2. IMPORTANT - Please read this before installing DirectX 5.0.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Motorhead requires DirectX 5.0 to be installed on your computer. This suite
of programs is not developed by Digital Illusions, thus Digital Illusions
does not in any way give any support of this product neither do we take
any responsibility for the operation of your computer after the installation
of DirectX 5.0. What follows below is just recommendations for the installation
of DirectX 5.0, if you are unsure about installing DirectX 5.0 or problems occur
after installation we ask you to contact the reseller of your computer or Microsoft
support in your country.

DirectX will, during its installation, check what drivers you might need to

2. From the control panel double-click on game controllers.

file in the Motorhead/Game folder with a Text Editor (such as Notepad) and alter
the values to suit your Preferences.

6. Problems with the game:
--------------------------
If you encounter problems with the game please do first check that your computer
complies with all the minimum requirements listed in this manual. Do also make
sure that no other programs are running before starting Motorhead

Problems with the graphics cards:

This game requires that your computer has a PCI SVGA graphics card capable of
displaying a resolution of at least 640x480 pixels in 65,535 colors (1 MB or more
video memory) and that your graphics cards driver supports DirectDraw.

First of all make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, if
unsure please check with the supplier of your computer or graphics card for the
latest drivers.

If you ALT-TAB with certain Videocards, the game may lock. To avoid this happening
we recommend you do not Alt-Tab while playing the game.

Memory Problems:

Motorhead requires 16 MB of internal memory or more and that the
Virtual memory handler is ACTIVE. We recommend that you let Windows 95 handle
your virtual memory automatically (default setting) and that you have at least
30 MB of free hard disk space at all times.

Sound problems:

Motorhead requires a sound card with support for DirectSound. If
your soundcard does not support DirectSound you may encounter jumping or distorted
sound. We recommend that you get the latest sound card drivers from the maker or
supplier of your sound card.

Network problems:

Motorhead requires an IPX-compatible network and network adapter to
allow play over a network. If you are uncertain that your machine has these
capabilities, please contact your network administrator or the supplier of your
network adapter.

Do also make sure that all network applications such as E-mail programs, are
turned off before starting the game.

For better network play make sure that the computer acting as the game SERVER is
the most powerful. Network play is also affected by other network traffic.

Modem games:

We find the best baud rates for Modem play to be 38400 and 57600 baud.

7. 3D accelerators.
--------------------

Motorhead has been tested and is working 100% on the following chipsets :

3DFX Voodoo Graphics
3DFX Voodoo Rush
3DFX Voodoo Graphics 2
Riva 128 ( with automipmapping turned off )
Rendition Verite 2200

The following chipsets don't support all features but work well :

Ati Rage PRO
PowerVR PCX2

The following chipsets runs motorhead but with major graphical features missing :

Matrox Millenium II
Matrox Mystique

Note, if you suffer from poor D3D performance change car detail to medium or low in
the options/graphics menu.

3DFX Issues:

If you are using a 3d accelerator equipped with a 3DFX chipset we recommend that you use
gamma setting 1.0 to get the best apperance of the game.

If you decide to change between Glide and Direct 3D in the Graphic options screen,
we recommend that you restart the machine before using the new settings.
